Plek update: archive, feature and convert
We are releasing an updated version of Plek today between 4 and 5 PM. After this release it will be possible to feature a group post, archive groups and chat conversations, and convert groups to a sub or main group. The celebrate all this: a gif (a moving image). Because you'll be able to use these in the Plek chat after the release!
Archive groups and chat conversations
At some point, certain groups and chat conversations just come to an end. That is why it will be possible to archive these after today's release.
You have to be a group admin in order to archive a group. Go to the group settings and click 'Archive group' at the bottom left. Of course you can reactivate your group at any time.
To archive a 1-on-1 chat, click the three dots at the upper right in the chat conversation and then click 'Archive chat'. Your chat history is saved, so you can always pick up where you left off.
Feature posts in groups
After the release, group admins will be able to feature a post in their group. It was already possible to feature channel posts. So now you'll be able to attract extra attention to important group news as well. When creating a group message, just click 'Select as featured post', upload a suitable image and choose when you want your featured group post to turn back into a regular group post.
Convert main groups to sub groups and vice versa
Group admins will be able to convert existing main groups to sub groups or vice versa after the release. In addition, it will become possible to link existing sub groups to a different main group. This enables you to organize your groups according to your preferences.
Giphy in the chat
Sometimes words just don't suffice. Sometimes even an emoji doesn't convey the right message. That is why, by popular request, we added giphy to the Plek chat. A giphy is a moving image from giphy.com, which is displayed as a part of the conversation (as opposed to displaying it as a downloadable attachment). Click the plus sign at the bottom left in the chat and choose between an attachment or a giphy. A giphy paints a thousand words!
After the release, it will be easy to see when you're dealing with external users on the platform. We indicate this as follows:
- In the 'People' overview, external users are marked as such on the right-hand side.
- The same indication is visible when you add new members to your group, underneath every external user's name.
- Within groups, you can see which users are external in the overview of group members.
- You are notified of the fact that your group has external members when creating a post in a group that has external members.
