Plek update: searchers and zoomers
There are two types of people: searchers and zoomers. The first group uses keywords, the second one uses filters to zoom in on the right result. Today's Plek release, between 4 and 5 PM, is mostly for the zoomers. We added filters to the search functionality for them - but without losing the clarity the searchers love!
Clients regularly asked us about filtering search results. After all, zoomers can be found in every organization! They will be happy to find out that, after the release, it will be possible to extensively filter results when searching within the main sections of Plek (such as Groups or Documents). Select which section you want to include in your search, for example "open groups" or "my documents." Or click one or several filters such as news channels or specific groups. Of course, both types of filters can be used simultaneously.
In addition to applying the default filters, do you also want to use a comprehensive taxonomy to filter your search results? Filter by subject and publication year, for example? Then our knowledgebase module is something to consider! Contact your account manager for more information.
A somewhat underexposed Plek feature is the general search, to be found under the search icon in the upper right corner of the menu bar. It allows you to search through all the information on Plek. Very useful if you do not exactly know where to find certain bits of information or knowledge.
For this release, we altered the design of the general search page: we put documents and information pages in their own separate columns. We also added the option to filter for the type of content you are looking for - before or after performing the search.
Featured in the app
Besides all of these search alterations, we also implemented a small design improvement in the app: after the release, a highlighted message will have the same styling in the app as in timeline view on desktop.
