Plek update: good news for Plek groupies
We are releasing an updated version of Plek today between 4 and 5 PM. We're showing the groups some love this time: we now have group apps and we also improved the way we display sub groups and external group members. Additionally, after the release you will be able to keep the spotlight on a featured message even after it was read.
Instantly clear: sub groups and external users
After the release, the blocks on the right of a group timeline will instantly show you who and what is part of your group. The upper block displays the internal and external group members. You will find the sub groups below that.
We have also implemented an improvement in the app: after the release it will be possible to easily switch from the group timeline to the group chat and vice versa.
Apps in groups
You are all familiar with the list of applications that can be opened from Plek. After the release, group admins can also add applications to groups. So a group admin will be able to add a link to a website or tool that's only relevant to group members, such as the accounting tool for the finance department. A group app will be displayed on the right side of the group timeline. Don't forget to check the box for applications in the group settings!
Easily find your group's apps and pages
Of course we want to make it easy to access group apps. That is why you will also be able to access them from the app icon (the 9 squares in the menu bar). The same goes for the group information pages we introduced in the last Plek release. So after the release, just click the app icon or i icon in the menu bar, and you will find your group apps and group pages at the bottom of the list. Please note: it might take a few days for these changes to become visible.
Keep featured messages in the spotlight
Some of you told us they wanted to highlight featured messages (in channels) even more. For this reason, we implemented a setting that allows you to keep an important message in the spotlight, even after a user has already read it.
In the last Plek release we added the possibility to put a time limit on featured messages. After expiry, they change back into regular messages. So by combining these two features for featured messages, a content manager has full controll over the way important news is displayed.
